THE PI BETA PHI CHAPTER AT ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY

Scholarship

 Scholarship

One of Pi Beta Phi’s core values is Personal and Intellectual Development, Arizona Beta promotes this value through Scholarship.  Pi Phi is dedicated to to promoting academics as a priority and helping members realize their academic goals with resources, incentives and recognition.  The Vice President of Member Development along with the Academic and Enrichment Committee work very hard to deliver academic programming and incentives to encourage and support sisters to succeed.

Pi Phi implements fun and rewarding Academic Excellence programming every year to provide all members with the resources to be academically successful and to reward those that uphold a high scholastic achievement. First, members list their personal academic goals at the start of each semester. This continual goal setting allows each member to understand her own academic strengths and weaknesses, and to recognize what study habits are most effective. Arizona Beta has a variety of programs designed to help inspire our members to work to the best of their ability so that they can reach their goals and remain focused on their academics, described as follows.

Each semester, we hold a Scholarship Dinner where members who receive a GPA of 3.0 or better are recognized in front of the chapter and ASU faculty.  They also receive a gift for all their hard work and dedication.  Past semesters gifts have included Pi Phi beach towels, backpacks, “Smarty Panties,” and T-shirts!  Other fun awards are given including Smartest Roommates, Most Improved GPA, and Smartest Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior.

Arizona Beta also offers these fun incentive programs, which have earned the chapter the Gold Pillar in Academics from ASU.

  • "Skippy Jar"
  • "A Box"
  • Pi Party for members who achieve at least a 3.14 GPA during the week of March 14th
  • "Dinner By Major"
  • Weekly study tips at chapter meetings

Pi Beta Phi recognizes members who are students first, yet also works to help every member succeed academically; therefore, Arizona Beta provides a comprehensive academic mentoring program for members struggling academically. This mentoring program helps our women not only achieve better grades, but also develop better study habits.
