Servant Leadership

“Leaders understand importance of serving others
Good leaders serve to meet needs of group
Good leaders grow more leaders”

One of the unique aspects of Pi Beta Phi is its commitment to practicing Servant Leadership. Gone is the day of yesterday’s leadership where leaders held all of the control on the top and made all of the decision. Now is a time to serve as leaders and through Servant Leadership everyone can feel the rewards of truly effective leading.

Today’s leadership model, Servant Leadership: stresses teamwork and community, involves others in the decision making, is based on ethical and caring behavior, aims to enhance the growth of all members, and improves the caring and the quality of Pi Beta Phi.

So, how does Servant Leadership work? Through this model of leadership leaders serve the needs of the group before their own and work toward the greater good of the group. Servant Leadership understands the growth of others and development of leaders must come before one’s own need for power and prestige. Lastly, it is encourages a group approach as we come together to strengthen the organization and improve our community.

How Servant Leadership Benefits the individual:

  • Learn valuable skills of persuasion and teamwork to use in your professional career
  • Builds influence and authority
  • Gives one’s life a mission
  • Builds character and provides vision
  • Stimulates personal growth
  • Allows us to combine our values and actions
  • Gives the opportunity to experience commitment and satisfaction in whatever you do

“Service creates influence
which builds authority that creates leaders”
