“When you meet a Pi Phi you realize immediately that there is something unique about her. There is an unmatched level of integrity and commitment to excellence, and a general aura of potential that sets her apart from the pack. That is because she is a Pi Phi through and through and a member of a premier organization for women. We have a long run, rich history that is steeped in tradition and values, and the ideals set forth by our Founders are what we still live by today.”
The Chapter Life of Arizona Gamma
Being a member of Pi Beta Phi is an experience unlike any other. The friendships we form are cherished throughout our college days and are sure to last a lifetime.
Members of our chapter participate in a number of different activities outside of the chapter including jobs, internships, on-campus organizations and even intercollegiate athletics. Our members also hold leadership positions outside of our chapter. Some members serve as Panhellenic officers, members of the Associated Students of Northern Arizona University, members of the NAU Chain Gang, as well as being involved in clubs related to their majors such as the Accounting Club, the Northern Arizona Merchandising Association, Public Relations Student Society, and more. Additionally, several of our ladies are members of Order of Omega, the Greek Honor Society.
Though involvement on campus and in the community is important to the members of Pi Beta Phi, we understand we have been brought together because of college. Thus, excellence in academics is a top priority of our members. This past semester, Spring '09, Pi Beta Phi was 2nd in grades at NAU. We encourage our members to excel in their education and we have developed several programs to aide in this process. One such program is "Smart Sis": an older member who is picked to help guide a new member in her schooling, helping her study, congratulating her on her efforts, and providing guidance in choosing classes and professors.
Yet, through all of our hard work we still find time to play. From our sisterhoods to just hanging out Pi Phi’s know how to relax and have a good time. We are actively involved in intramurals and have been all-sorority intramural champions for the past three years. In 2007-2008 we excelled in soccer, softball, and volleyball. We have fun in athletic philanthropies too: the picture above is Pi Phi celebrating victory of 2009 derby days dodgeball tournament. Although not all of our members play in the intramural games, we still enjoy attending the games and cheering our sisters on!
