Letter from the President:
Thank you for visiting our website!
Back to school, football, tailgates, friends and First Book? Who could ask for more! That is what our fall season is full of here at the Texas Beta house! We were apart all summer and now we are overwhelmed with joy to be together again and celebrate the new school year!
This semester we are hosting three great events in support of our philanthropy, First Book. These events include Mr. University, Phi Dye and Phight Night! Mr. University is a male pageant show with contestants from organizations all over campus. The contestants participate in a formal wear, athletic wear and talent portion of the competition. Teachers judge the event and get involved with a Speed Read! (This is something you don't want to miss!) Phi Dye is an event where we invite all students to gather together at the end of the boulevard to tie-dye shirts. We will wrap up the year with Phight Night, a self-defense class promoting wellness and risk management! All events are open to all SMU students, so please come out and join us in promoting literacy and supporting First Book!
Event Dates and Locations:
Phi Dye: October 20th at the Flag Pole at the end of the SMU Boulevard
Mr. University: November 11th in The Hughes-Trigg Theatre
Phight Night: November 30th in Hughes-Trigg Ballroom
Here at the Texas Beta house we love to have fun, be involved, and to study, so if you see us around campus, in the library, feel free to come up at introduce yourself because we love to meet new people!
Pi Phi Love and Mine,
Shannon Smith
