Welcome to Louisiana Alpha!
Welcome to the Louisiana Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi sorority! Brought together by common values of Integrity, Personal and Intellectual Growth, Philanthropic Service & Genuine Friendship, our chapter provides young women with opportunities to create meaningful relationships and to make a difference in the New Orleans community.
Pi Phi's are known for showing up and bringing fun with them wherever they go. Whether it's rebuilding New Orleans in shorts and sneakers or hitting the dance floor in cocktail dresses and stilettos, the Louisiana Alpha sisters always do it with smiles!
Recruitment
From the moment it starts, Bid Day is nothing but unforgettable. This year's newest members celebrated at Mulate's in Downtown New Orleans. Clad in Pi Phi swag (including halos!) they joined their sisters who awaited them with open arms - and lots of cheering!
Big/Little Reveal
One of the most exciting events during the spring semester is the Big Sis/Little Sis ceremony. Each of our new members is matched with their Big Sister- a sophomore or junior who will guide them though the rest of their new member process and college career. In addition to receiving a Big Sister, the "Littles" are ushered into a Pi Phi phamily made up of Juniors, Seniors and sometimes even graduates! It's a time full of baked goods, candies, Pi Phi paraphanelia, tons of memories and the occasional complaint of "my Big got me fat from all those cookies." Sorry, Littles! You know you love us...
Initiation
Our new members finished their pledge process on March 22, 2011 with our initiation ceremony. In typical fashion, it was followed by a beautiful brunch at the Court of Two Sisters in Downtown, New Orleans.
Philanthropy
Being a Pi Phi means giving back to the community. Which is why we are always brainstorming and implementing new efforts to improve our immediate college community in Uptown New Orleans, as well as ideas for bettering the greater New Orleans area that we are lucky enough to call "home." This fall we went in a new direction with "Pancakes with Pi Phi" and the event was a huge success. So much so that it will be back next Fall by popular demand! Get hungry, Uptown, we're ready for ya!
Boom, Boom Do YOU Wanna Be A PI BETA PHI?
At Tulane, we start our Recruitment in the Spring semester (a system you may hear referred to as "delayed recruitment").
We'll keep you posted on specific dates!
* Please note that all RIFS and Recommendations must be sent and addressed to our VPM, Stephanie Barnes, at 7014 Zimple St, New Orleans LA 70118.
