Welcome to Pi Beta Phi!
The 2010-2011 school year was filled with amazing accomplishments and
exciting opportunities for the members of our organization. Our sisterhood is a
truly unique one that offers every member the chance to become a leader in all
aspects of Greek and campus life, all while encouraging one another to be the
best person she can possibly be. All of our members participate in
philanthropic events throughout the year that help better the community. The
two events that our organization exclusively hosts are Arrowbowl and Speed
Read. Our members are also heavily involved in other campus-wide philanthropies
such as Knight-Thon and Relay for Life. Pi Beta Phi’s main philanthropic focus
is fostering literacy among all students, with an emphasis on elementary aged children
in impoverished areas, while also raising money for our organization’s national
philanthropy, First Book.
Throughout the year, we host a multitude of sisterhood events that only
bring us closer as friends and sisters. Every year we have a Sisterhood
Retreat, a Semi-Formal and Formal date function, a Parent’s Weekend BBQ that
takes places in the fall, and a Founder’s Day luncheon that takes place in the
spring. This past Spring semester, we had a Mother/Daughter Weekend in which we
hosted a brunch at our house, and had a group event in which we all went to
Farris and Foster's Chocolate Factory. We also had a Sisterhood Retreat earlier
in the semester, along with a Sisterhood Banquet, in which we had an amazing
time at Ceviche in downtown Orlando. In regards to other sisterhood events, we
attended a Magic basketball game as a group, painted pottery at the house, and
hosted a Pi Phi pool party complete with waterslides in our front yard!
In addition to these sisterhood events, our members are also incredibly
involved with other activities on campus such as intramural sports, Student
Government, Volunteer UCF, O-Team, President’s Leadership Council, and the
like.
Pi Beta Phi not only achieves within the Greek community, but within
the classroom as well. Our chapter GPA is consistently above the all-women’s
average, and we constantly strive to better ourselves intellectually each and
every year. This past Spring semester, Pi Beta Phi had the third highest GPA
out of all Greek Organizations, sororities and fraternities included, with an
overall 3.269 semesterly GPA. Such academic excellence is stressed highly
within our organization and especially to new members, along with our six core
values: Integrity, Lifelong Commitment, Honor and Respect, Personal and
Intellectual Growth, Philanthropic Service to Others, and Sincere Friendship. These
values set the foundation for our sisterhood, and make Pi Beta Phi truly one of
a kind. Pi Beta Phi is not something that can be easily described by words; it is
something that the heart feels and the mind knows. In more ways than one, Pi
Beta Phi has impacted my college career and changed my life for the better. I
am beyond honored to represent the Florida Epsilon chapter of Pi Beta Phi as
its President, and even more blessed to call each one of these amazing girls my
sisters. Please feel free to look around the website to get more of an idea of what
the sisterhood of Florida Epsilon is all about!
Pi Phi Love and Mine,
Serena Utz , Chapter President
