Chapter Life
This past year was nothing short of amazing for Pi Phi! While focusing on the reason we attend UCR, academics, sisterhood was not far behind. This past year we participated in many events where Pi Phi was able to represent the wine and silver blue! We are currently the only sorority at UCR with an official Chapter house, which is such a great asset. Throughout the past year Pi Phis were involved in events such as Greek Week, Greek Pyramid, Sports Week, and many other philanthropic events held by other chapters such as Delta Queen, a pageant to raise money for the City of Hope.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Pi Phis realize the importance of community service and giving back. While literacy is our main focus, we raised a record breaking $4,000 at our annual philanthropic event, Angel Idol Karaoke Contest! We also host an ther annual philanthropic event for all the Sororities and Fraternities Speed Read. This next year we also plan on hosting an outdoor volleyball tournament, Arrowspike, which is projected to be a blast! This past year Pi Phis also enjoyed writing letters to soldiers in Iraq, volunteering at assisted living homes for the memory disabled, reading to and tutoring elementary children, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army during the holiday season, hosting a clothing drive, participating in the Girl Scouts Girl Fest, successfully starting the "Angel for a Day" program, and collecting books to be donated to local schools! What will we come up with next year?!
Although we are very busy throughout the year studying and donating our time, we always find time for sisterhood and social events!
SISTERHOODS
We enjoyed sharing our time together doing such activities as decorating cookies for the local fire department on Valentine's Day, making no sew pillows and decorating picture frames. Having chapter dinners and sisterhoods are just a few things that we do together.
FOUNDER'S DAY BRUNCH
An annual tea brunch is planned with our Alumnae at the Canyon Crest Country Club is always an exciting event. Phi Phis current and past get time to reconnect and listen to different stories. This is a perfect opportunity for our members to find alumnae in the same career aspirations as themselves and listen to advice.
SOCIALS
Throughout the year we also were invited to themed social events with UCR fraternities, where our girls dressed as Disney Characters, cowboy and indians, and many more themes! We usually have 2-3 socials a quarter with the different gentlemen. An activity is planned with different prizes for the mini friendly competitions we participate against each other. For example, a scavenger hunt or a pumpkin carving contest, whatever the competition may be fun is never far.
