Qualifications and Approval Process

Pi Beta Phi seeks women active in their local communities whose values would complement the Fraternity to become alumna initiates. Ideal candidates are aligned with the work of the Fraternity, have a desire to participate in alumnae life and commit to being lifelong members of Pi Beta Phi.

Collegiate chapters may recommend candidates for alumna initiation to clubs. Professors, advisors and women with close relationships to collegians (mothers, sisters and close family friend) are ideal candidates.

We believe in the power of reading.

For more than a century, we've worked to inspire a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential, creating a more literate and productive society. Today, Pi Phis participate, donate and advocate for literacy through our Read > Lead > Achieve® reading initiatives — just as our sisters first did in 1912.
