Pi Beta Phi Recognized for Educational Programming

ST. LOUIS – January 27, 2015 – Pi Beta Phi® Fraternity for Women recently received two prestigious awards for its Online Learning Center. Pi Beta Phi revolutionized its officer training in 2013 by becoming one of the first National Panhellenic Conference organizations to train its alumnae and collegiate officers through online, interactive courses.

ALA Conference awardThe Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) awarded the Excellence in Educational Programming Award to Pi Beta Phi at its 2014 annual conference in December. The award honors new and innovative programs that result in learning or education, specifically efforts directed to undergraduate or alumni members. AFA is the leading voice in aligning the fraternity/sorority and higher education experiences. Pi Beta Phi is one of two organizations to win the Excellence in Educational Programming Award twice. Previously, the Fraternity was honored for its member development program, Leading with Values®

BizLibrary awarded the Best Blended Program Award to Pi Beta Phi at its annual conference in September. The award honors a program using multimedia resources in a training solution, and celebrates that the program has high ratings and positive feedback on the training deployed. BizLibrary is a leading provider of online training and development solutions for small and mid-sized businesses throughout the United States.

BizLibrary Award PictureThe Online Learning Center is a custom Learning Management System (LMS) that houses eLearning courses as well as supplemental training documents users may need in order to complete their training. The courses are self-guided and personalized for each audience so that members across the country receive structured and consistent training. Additionally, the Online Learning Center allows Fraternity officers to access user completion and test scores in real time.

“By ensuring all Pi Beta Phi officers, advisors and New Members are trained properly on their responsibilities, our members feel supported and comfortable within their roles in the Fraternity,” said Collegiate Services and Programming Coordinator Ashley Hallowell. “Consistent training also ensures a more seamless transition between outgoing and incoming officers at all levels of the Fraternity.”

Currently, training through the Online Learning Center is available to more than 10,000 Pi Beta Phi members, including:

  • 7,500 New Members
  • 1,300 collegiate officers
  • 1,500 Alumnae Advisory Council members (who support local collegiate chapters)
  • 500 Alumnae Organization Officers
