A Progressive Potluck Dinner

Please join us for a Progressive Potluck Dinner on Thursday evening, September 21, to kick off our 2017–2018 program year, where we will reconnect and meet new friends! Bring your favorite pot luck dish to share with others, as follows:

A --> M: bring something for a main course;
N --> S: bring something for a salad course;
T --> Z: bring something for dessert.
(Your hostesses will provide appetizers and beverages.)
Please note: HQ has an oven and two microwaves, but no stove top. Dishes may be kept warm in the oven, but should be fully cooked ahead of time.

It's a haunted dinner party that's sure to be a fright; Come dressed in black and help us celebrate the night! Gather, Sisters, for a truly SPOOKY evening — we’ll enjoy a special witches’ BREW and dine on frightfully fun food! We’ll be joined by Patrick Dorsey (famed local storyteller and author of HAUNTED WEBSTER GROVES*) and hopefully meet a spirit or two while making S’mores around the fire! *Book available for purchase that night

Museum Tour and Luncheon in the Park
Date: Tuesday, November 7, 2017
Time: 11:00 am for Tour, 12:15 pm for lunch, 2:00 pm for dramatization (optional)

Hostess: Peg Sant’Ambrogio Cost: $3 for tour / lunch on your own (lunch range: $6.50–$16.00) / free theatre presentation

We’ll start with a Docent-led tour of the exciting “Panoramas of the City” exhibit. Our group will then gather for an artful lunch at Bixby’s (complete with spectacular sweeping views of the park), followed by an optional free dramatization of one of the pictures in the Museum theatre at 2:00pm (30 minutes).

Holiday ELF Project + Munch ‘n Mingle

This month we will conclude our HOLIDAY ELF service project for the Troops. During our December 12 celebration, alum club members will fill much-needed goodie bags with our collected items for distribution by the USO to Troops being deployed during the holidays. After completing our project, we’ll enjoy light refreshments provided by the Alumnae Club Board. Please check out the online sign-up for items to bring. All donations for the Troops are needed no later than December 5th—bring to one of the fall meetings or stay tuned for “drop box” information. (ritual meeting)

Shake those winter blahs and join us for a January pick-me-up: “May in Provence,” a hands-on cooking class at Schnucks Des Peres on the Balcony. We will both learn to prepare and enjoy dining on this delightful spring menu: Tomato Onion Tart on a Bed of Mache, French Onion Soup with Gruyere Cheese, and Sweet Brioche Pudding. Includes glass of wine.

A Valentine–Sipping Soiree

Back by popular demand is our WINE-TASTING FUNDRAISER! Bring your valentine and mingle at Grapevine Wines, where the Gray family shares varietals from around the world—you’ll learn all about vino as you sniff, swirl, swish and savor! You’ll want to do a little shopping at this fundraiser that puts the emphasis on FUN, and be sure to enter early to win fabulous raffle prizes all while raising money for Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls. A Pi Phi “PI DAY” Pie Celebration at Sign of the Arrow

What better way to celebrate “PI DAY” (3.141592...) than with a slice or two of PIZZA PIE, followed by some delicious DESSERT PIES, all enjoyed in the company of your PI PHI sisters! Join us on Pi Day at Sign of the Arrow, where you will enjoy some wine and sample PIE of all kinds. Alumnae club members will enjoy a 20% shopping discount on all in-stock merchandise for the night.

We will sample an assortment of international extra virgin olive oils, flavored olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and local honeys. Owner Marianne Prey will share her favorite combinations and recipes while we enjoy her signature appetizers. Optional: For those of us craving a sweet treat after our tasting concludes, we can walk down the block to MAGGIE MOOS for a little dessert.
