Academics

34355

One of Pi Beta Phi's six core values is Personal and Intellectual Growth. Our sisterhood recognizes that a good education is the most important part of the college experience. All of our members strive to hold themselves to a higher standard, helping one another excel scholastically, as we move forward together on our future career paths. We offer many opportunities and rewards for academic achievement. These include incentives for A's on tests, incentives for attending class, rewards for high grade-point averages and recognition for outstanding academic achievement. For example, we recently sponsored a study week this past spring. "Study With Pi Phi" was a week long event where snacks and drinks were provided for our members as well as a place for them to study with their sisters.

Pi Beta Phi Foundation awarded 137 scholarships totaling $350,700 for the 2015-2016 academic year. With tuition costs rising scholarships play a key role in the ability of many Pi Phi's being able to achieve their dreams of completing formal education. The Pi Beta Phi Foundation provides three different types of scholarships: Undergraduate Scholarships, Graduate Fellowships, and Alumnae Continuing Education (ACE) Scholarships. You can find out more information about these as well as The Pi Beta Phi Foundation here

An excellent example of our Chapter's pursuit of academic achievement is "Pi Society", which is our very own honor society. To encourage our sisters in their studies, Pi Beta Phi offers this unique program which recognizes and rewards educational success within our membership. Sisters who achieve a grade point average of 3.14 or greater at the end of each semester at UNT are rewarded with special recognition at our Founder's Day banquet and even receive a cute t-shirt. We are so proud of our 48 members who were recognized this year for their Pi Society achievement. In addition to being on Pi Society, 18 girls in our chapter received 4.0's last semester. We are also excited to announce that we received the award for 'Spring 2015 New Member Academic Excellence' at the Greek Awards ceremony of 2015.
