Philanthropy Events

 philanthropy events 2

The Texas Epsilon chapter of Pi Beta Phi hosts many fun and exciting philanthropy events during both the Fall and Spring semesters! Some of our events in the Fall include Lemonade for Literacy, Fall for Pi Phi, and Pie a Pi Phi. Other philanthropy events we have during the Spring semester are Dodge The Arrow, Pops with Pi Phi, Lemonade for Literacy and additional book drives with other Greek organizations across campus with similar philanthropies as ours. In addition to our philanthropy events, our chapter participates in CAR (Champions Are Readers) during the month of February. At this event we visit the 3rd grade class of a Title One school and participate in reading, drawing, poem creating, and altogether getting to know the students. We have incorporated CAR for many years now and have loved the philanthropic impact we are able to have directly on students lives!

Lemonade for Literacy

Lemonade for Literacy raises money for the Read > Lead > Achieve initiative which seeks to create a more literate and productive society. 1 in 4 children will grow up illiterate and Pi Beta Phi is out to change that. At this event, we set up a table around campus and offer lemonade and facts about illiteracy to our donors. At the last Lemonade for Literacy event, we raised $1,121 for children's literacy!

Dodge The Arrow

In the spring, the sisters of the Texas Epsilon chapter host a dodgeball tournament. Fellow greek members, friends, and other UNT students and teams participate for a day filled with fun, music, food, and some friendly competition.

Pie a Pi Phi

Pie a Pi Phi takes place in the Library Mall for all to see. Not only do we get other greeks involved, but also students of all organizations at the University of North Texas. Sisters volunteer to get pied in the face by their friends, professors, and fellow UNT eagles. Between classes, students can give a small donation in exchange for the opportunity to pie a person of their choice.
