About Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute

The vision of Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute is to develop confident women leaders who contribute to making the impossible the inevitable. Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute was created for Pi Phi collegians that are interested in growing their leadership skills. Participants do not have to be chapter officers or even aspire to be a chapter officer, but rather have a desire to exemplify the Pi Beta Phi vision, mission and core values as leaders in their chapter, on their campus and in their communities as well as their personal and professional endeavors.  

In this three-day experience, our objective is to encourage Pi Phis to identify their talents and help participants develop a plan so they can serve the world as resilient women leaders.

This encompasses so many things from knowing how to effectively cast a vision, to using my personal strengths to lead people and accomplish my goals, to generally being a better leader by storytelling and motivating my audience to be interested in what I have to say. I learned so many simple, yet effective, details that will have such an impact on the way I communicate and interact with people moving forward. This weekend was not just a conference where you sit and listen and take notes — this was a weekend of reflection, discussion, interaction and collaboration. Who Should Attend Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute?

Any Pi Beta Phi collegian that wants to develop a strong inner voice and is prepared to take action, speak up and make a difference should attend Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute. Not only will you will make new lifelong friends, but you will also challenge yourself, develop new skills and strengthen skills you already had.

Registration

How to Register

Attendees can elect to pay their own $200 registration fee and travel, or their chapter may choose to fund their attendance. The $200 registration fee includes session materials, lodging, meals and ground transportation. (See below for more details!)

Canceling or Changing a Registration

A completed registration is only good for the registrant named. Should a registrant be no longer able to attend, her registration should be canceled. The attendee fee will be refunded for registrations canceled prior to 5 p.m. CST May 1. Registrations are non-transferable, meaning a “replacement” registrant may not be substituted for an existing registrant. In the event of a registration cancelation, the open registration spot will be filled by the next registrant, which may include wait-listed registrants. Unlike the process for previous events, the Fraternity is unable to register a “proxy” registrant.

Billing Your Chapter Directly

When the registrant completes the registration process and is on the payment screen, please select the option to “Bill My Chapter” if your fees are to be billed to the chapter. Once selected, type in the name of the chapter, i.e., AL Alpha to ensure the fees are automatically deducted from the chapter you are representing. Chapters will be notified of any Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute related charges to be deducted in a separate email, following their monthly statement on the first of the month.

Registration Refunds

The Fraternity is unable to offer refunds after May 1, 2018, at 5 p.m. CST.

Travel and Event Logistics

Arrival and Departure Times

Session One, July 12-15:
All attendees must arrive on the Washington University in St. Louis campus and be checked-in no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 12. The program will begin promptly at 5 p.m. On Sunday, July 15, sessions will conclude at noon. Please book travel for no earlier than 2 p.m. 

Session Two, July 16-19:
All attendees must arrive on the Washington University in St. Louis campus and be checked-in no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, July 16. The program will begin promptly at 5 p.m. On Thursday, July 19, sessions will conclude at noon. Please book travel for no earlier than 2 p.m. 

Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in begins at 2 p.m.

Lodging and Meals

The Fraternity will make lodging accommodations on your behalf. Attendees will be staying in residence hall suites on the Washington University campus. When registering, you must select to either share a room with a member from your chapter or that you prefer to meet a new sister, which means you will be paired with another Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute attendee. Headquarters staff will do their best to accommodate your request, however we are unable to guarantee a roommate request.

For Session One, meals are provided Thursday dinner through Sunday breakfast. For Session Two, meals are provided Monday dinner through Thursday breakfast. 

Linen packages consisting of two bed sheets, one pillow, one blanket, two bath towels, two washcloths and two soaps are provided upon check-in. Remember to pack all necessary toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste as well as a hair dryer.   

In-room Wi-Fi is provided to you at no charge.  

Air Travel

Participants are encouraged to book air travel through Travel Leaders. Please call (800) 627–9258 and ask to speak with Debbie or Pat.

Ground Transportation

Ground transportation details will be shared with registered participants.

Driving Directions

Washington University in St. Louis offers driving directions on their website. To park on campus, attendees must purchase a parking pass for $5 per day though the registration website. Washington University does not sell parking passes to individual attendees. Those driving should request a parking pass at the time of registering for Pi Beta Phi Leadership Institute or contact events@pibetaphi.org.

Appropriate Dress

Dress will be casual. Jeans and T-shirts are acceptable and many activities will require participants to physically engage. Participants are asked to refrain from wearing gym or lounge attire. Please note that outdoor temperatures in St. Louis in July will be hot and humid, while temperatures inside the meeting facility may be cool. Bringing a cardigan or sweatshirt may be advisable.

Confirmation Materials

Confirmation materials for will be sent in early July 2018 to the email address of each registrant on file with the Fraternity.
