  36. Holt House Purchased. It was proposed at the 1938 convention to purchase the Holt House, but many felt it was in so far gone that restoring it would be impractical. 47. Work it! The NYC Chi Omega Alumnae have opened up an event we can’t pass up, “Land Your Dream Job,” with this panel and interview tips for a killer career.

  48. Holt House restored. Pi Phi Hubby & architect, Harry Glen Aldrich, took on the project of renovating the newly acquired Holt House from the bottom up, and created new space for entertaining. The two-story twin columns on the porch and balcony, the great oak beams supporting the floors and wide foundation stayed exactly as they were originally. The March 1941 issue of The Arrow proclaimed, “The successful placing of the house in as nearly as possible its original condition, is proof that its apparent ruin was an external matter only, that the builders of that early day really built for many generations, and also that a splendid piece of work has been done by the committee, the architect and the builders.”

  49. Holt House on a budget. Kansas Alpha, Lorette Chapman Terrell took on the decor on a major budget. She consulted decorators, visited museums and antique shops. Historically accurate and suitable for group entertaining was the goal when selecting items for the house. “If you have ever tried to stretch $800 over a multitude of needs in an old house of your own, you know what your committee was up against in bringing Holt House back to life — grooming it, dressing it, correcting its faults and giving it the beauty of sincerity.”

  50. Holt House Forever. The mission of Holt House, the founding home of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, is to promote a welcoming spirit, to preserve Fraternity history and to provide an inviting setting that serves Pi Beta Phi collegiate chapters, alumnae organizations and the greater Monmouth community.
