Welcome to the DC Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi at The George Washington University. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We're excited to see that you're interested in learning more about our sisters and accomplishments!
We have so many achievements here at DC Alpha that we'd love to share with you. Our chapter has quite the history! Established in 1889 as the university's first sorority, DC Alpha has grown into a wonderful organization of leaders from across the country. We are a group of genuine, fun, strong and powerful women. We have had so many good times in our nation's capital with endless opportunities for sisterhood, philanthropic and social events.
We're proud to point our efforts toward First Book, our philanthropy, as well as the Pi Beta Phi Foundation. Our annual 5K fundraiser is a race for the GW and DC communities that takes place around our campus- just minutes from the National Mall! Another one of our events is our Pi Beta Phi whiffle ball tournament for the entire Greek community here at GW. During the year, we also host smaller events such as midnight breakfasts, fall festivals, and leadership speakers. This past fall we even held a self-defense workshop for our fellow women students on campus. The workshop honored and raised money for an organization near to our hearts- T.A.K.E.
Our sisters are involved in all types of groups at GW and are leaders all around campus. Pi Phi's are on Colonial Inauguration, House Staff, involved in College Democrats and College Republicans, Camp Kessem and many, many other extra-curricular activities. As you can see, we have a prominent presence on campus.
Our bond of sisterhood is so strong because we all hold the same values- sincere friendship, life-long commitment, integrity, honor and respect, personal and intellectual growth, and philanthropic service to others. Our chapter is committed to being the best women we can be. We help each other strive in a fast-paced environment through the constant support of an incredibly dedicated sisterhood.
I could not be prouder to call myself a member of DC Alpha. Please feel free to browse through our website and contact us with any questions you may have. I'm sure you'll quickly realize how immensely Pi Phi can enrich your collegiate career!
In wine and silver blue,
Jessi Payton
