5 Ways to Participate in Fraternity Day of Service
1. Donate books to your community.
If you have a stack of books you’ve already read or an old collection from childhood, consider donating them to a local school or a Little Free Library®! By sharing your favorite reads with your community, you’re not only inspiring new readers but also helping make literacy more accessible. Invite sisters and friends to join you for a fun day of giving back and doubling your impact!
2. Volunteer for your local library.
Reach out to your local library to learn where support is needed most. Whether you assist with community events or help lead reading activities, getting involved is a meaningful way to live our core value of Philanthropic Service to Others. You’ll not only help strengthen the library’s literacy advocacy but also connect with those who share similar passions!
3. Share inspiration on social media.
Leveraging social media is a powerful way to highlight the importance of literacy and share why you’re celebrating FDS! Consider creating posts that feature compelling statistics and success stories from your community. Sharing these insights helps raise awareness and inspire others to join in your efforts.
4. Host a literacy-themed craft night.
Gather your sisters, friends and all the craft supplies for a literacy-themed craft night. The opportunities are endless—from homemade bookmarks with inspirational messages to reading trackers for kids to color in! Then, share your creations with local schools or libraries as a fun surprise and encouragement booster.
5. Donate to the Literacy Fund at Pi Beta Phi Foundation.
The Literacy Fund plays a critical role in the success of Pi Beta Phi’s literacy initiatives. Gifts to The Literacy Fund help power programs such as Champions are Readers®, FDS Signature Events, Pi Beta Phi Literacy Grants and more. Thanks to your support, Pi Phi can continue inspiring a lifelong love of reading for generations to come.
On March 14, the Fraternity is thrilled to host our FDS Signature Event in Portland, Oregon—where sisters and friends will distribute 10,000 new, culturally responsive books to youth-serving organizations! How will you participate in FDS this year? Share your story and post on social media using #ReadLeadAchieve!
