From Consulting to Conservation
Tell us about yourself.
In my professional life, I lead a hybrid fundraising and marketing team for NPCA as the senior director of strategic partnerships and marketing. My role focuses on engaging with brands to not only secure donations, but to inspire, educate and empower consumers to take part in our mission: the protection of our national parks. I also oversee NPCA’s marketing program and celebrity engagement efforts.
Personally, I’m hugely into dining and travel, especially the intersection of culture and cuisine!
How has your experience as a consultant influenced you?
I’ve always credited Pi Phi for being the most pivotal experience in my life. Growing up in small town Maine, my opportunities—especially on the career front—were limited, and becoming a consultant set me up with a substantial job opportunity straight out of college that took me to Boston. My early employers were always so interested in that experience on my resume, and I still find transferable skills from my time as a consultant in my day-to-day life. I also met some of my closest friends to this day through being a consultant—either by serving in the same class as them or by visiting their chapter.
What do you love most about your work?
No one day is the same as the next—that’s the beauty of any client service role. My day shifts completely depending on the brands I’m working with and the cause-centric marketing activations we’re collaborating on. Additionally, a key part of my role is cultivating and securing new partnerships. There is nothing more exciting to me than those introductory meetings, where I must quickly assess the needs of the prospective partner and showcase NPCA’s value proposition and impact accordingly.
What are some key career experiences and takeaways that have shaped you?
There were a lot of opportunities early on in my career, especially as a young woman, when I learned how imperative it is to be your own advocate. That drive and determination helped me progress quickly in my career—especially at NPCA where I have been fortunate to have the support of several female leaders. As a result, I took on leadership of this program at a very young age because those women believed in me and provided me the runway to do so.
In those moments, it’s always been crucial to showcase my abilities to turn strategies and ideas into action. I firmly believe dedication and determination have shaped me. I’ve carried the mentality, “We’ll always figure it out”—never backing away from a challenge.
Is there a leadership philosophy that guides your work?
“All ships rise.” Not just from a collaboration standpoint, but from a team standpoint. If my team is successful in leading their own efforts—having the autonomy to explore, create and grow—and as a result, come up with unique ideas, campaigns and strategies, then I, too, am successful. Everyone brings such different perspectives and ideas to the table, and just because someone does something different from how I would doesn’t make it right or wrong—it makes it better, because we all can see a new perspective. I want to ensure I’m cultivating that ownership among my team so they can dream big; my role is to then help provide the strategic counsel and guidance to turn that dream into reality.
From the moment you joined Pi Phi to now, how have you evolved as a leader?
Those early moments in Pi Phi taught me to trust my voice and helped shape my intuition when it came to decision making. I’m not sure I’d be the leader I am now without that early skill development and confidence building. I sit here now, more than 15 years into my career, as someone who stands firm in her strategies and decisions. If you’ve stood in front of more than 50 college-aged women—you can handle a boardroom.
The consultant role is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to build your resume, grow your network and shape our sisterhood. Applications open on January 12, 2026.
