1867 Collegiate Society

As Pi Phis, we are bonded by the values our founders imagined in 1867 and the symbols of our shared heritage that tell our Fraternity’s story. The 1867 Collegiate Society is designed specifically for collegians who choose to honor that shared heritage by giving back to Pi Beta Phi Foundation. For each year a collegiate member gives at least $18.67 to our Foundation, they’ll receive a charm inspired by the symbols of our crest—a tangible reminder of their place in Pi Phi’s history and their role in shaping a bright future for Pi Beta Phi.

Together, these charms form the Pi Beta Phi crest and mirror the Pi Phi journey—light, history, identity and strength. Each one tells a story, and together, they symbolize the powerful impact collegians can make when they give back.

Join the 1867 Collegiate Society today by giving $18.67 to our Foundation and receive your first charm.

DID YOU KNOW?

The crest, or Coat-of-Arms, of Pi Beta Phi is derived from the Brownlee family crest, honoring two of our 12 founders—Emma Brownlee Kilgore, the first president of Pi Beta Phi, and her younger sister, Clara Brownlee Hutchinson.

Adopted by Grand Council in 1912, Pennsylvania Alpha and member of the Committee on Coat-of-Arms Anna F. T. Pettit reported, “the symbols of the Pi Beta Phi Coat-of-Arms should bring to mind of every Pi Beta Phi a realization that this great Fraternity of ours is a heritage from the past, that we who are proud to use its Coat-of-Arms should be equally proud to uphold the ideals for which those noble women, our founders, established at the first chapter at Monmouth College.”
