Dear Potential New Members,

I’m Michelle Cheng, the current Recruitment Chair for the New York Delta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi! As the school year comes to a close, I am incredibly excited to begin preparing for the upcoming 2018 recruitment process. My sisters and I are thrilled that you may be interested in undergoing recruitment and hope that our website will provide helpful information about Pi Beta Phi and the Greek community at large. With over 30 fraternity chapters and 13 sorority chapters, Cornell’s Greek system truly represents the diversity and inclusivity present in all areas of university life.

While every chapter has a distinct culture and history, each represents an opportunity for social, intellectual, and personal growth during these unforgettable years at college. Only two years ago, I was also a terrified incoming freshman driving into a school whose student population was greater than that of my own hometown. Now that I’m halfway through my Cornell experience, I can honestly say that joining Pi Phi has been the best decision I’ve made here. Every day, I am surrounded by a community of supportive, compassionate women with whom I have forged unforgettable bonds. I am honored to call these women my sisters and Pi Phi my second home.

The idea of going through Recruitment may be intimidating at times, but please don’t stress out! Over the course of five days, you’ll have the opportunity to see each chapter showcase its character and values. I have the utmost confidence that you will also be able to find an unbelievable house to call your second home! I encourage you to enter Recruitment with an open mind and actively engage with every sister you meet. No house is looking for just one “type” of girl, so just be yourself and enjoy the process!

Onbehalf of the entire New York Delta chapter, we wish you good luck in theseupcoming months and cannot wait to meet you in January!

With Pi Phi Love and Mine,

 Michelle Cheng
