Awesome Pi Phi Activities

Community Service is one of the core values of Pi Phi and throughout the year we have many events for our national literacy philanthropy.

Pi Phi Pancake Breakfast
This even is held in annually in the spring.  This year it will be held at Tommy's on Friday April 10th...to mix things up this year, instead of a breakfast we are doing a late night meal!  All of the money raised goes directly to our national literacy fund.

EK Powe Tutoring
Giving back to the Durham community is very important for us, so in the fall of 2009, Pi Phi had over 20 girls read to kindergarten classes at a local elementary school for 6 weeks for a total of 80 hours.

Duke Pi Phi Scholarship Fund (this is unique to our chapter!)
This non-profit scholarship fund was started by a Duke Pi Phi and has provided over $30,000 in scholarships over past four years. In 2008, we gave $10,250 this year to 8 recipients.

Phasion Show
In 2008, we held a fashion show called Phi Phashion to raise more money for our scholarship fund and literacy program.  It was a great success with over 120 people coming out to a local venue and raising over $8,000 in our first year.  The clothes were supplied by a local boutique and pi phis got to be the models!  This was the first time a fashion show was ever hosted by a sorority at Duke.

Black Tie Affair
To raise money for our scholarship fund we have an annual event with a three course meal,a band, and a silent auction.  In the past it has been very well attended and all of the proceeds from the night go towards our fund.
