Pi Beta Phi Foundation Executive Director Hallee Winnie Announces Departure

Pi Beta Phi Foundation Board of Trustees announced today that Hallee Winnie has decided to conclude her time as Foundation Executive Director. No end date has been set as the search for her replacement begins.

Since 2015, Hallee has led a team of staff and volunteers who work to build the necessary philanthropic support to ensure Pi Beta Phi’s mission, support Pi Beta Phi sisters and invest in a more literate society. Hallee has furthered the Foundation’s mission through her thoughtful and intentional leadership. Under her tenure, the Foundation raised more than $32 million for our sisterhood during the SHINE THROUGH campaign—achieving the largest philanthropic endeavor in our Fraternity’s history and the largest fundraising campaign ever assumed by a National Panhellenic Conference organization (at that time).

Hallee ensured the future of the Foundation throughout the pandemic—providing stability navigating uncertainty, exploring new types of flexibility and sharpening the Foundation’s focus. Under her leadership, in 2020, the Foundation increased our commitment to First Book with an immediate gift to support programs such as “feed and read” initiatives in which First Book worked to distribute books with meals to kids who counted on their schools for both.

Hallee was instrumental in evolving the Foundation’s operations to support its growth. During her tenure, the Foundation’s net assets tripled. Her donor-centered and relationship-first leadership has been at the center of all she has led for the Foundation. Hallee leaves the Foundation in a position for continued growth and it will operate as usual during this transition.

Foundation Board of Trustees President Cindy Rice Svec shared, “We are grateful to Hallee for her contributions and dedication to Pi Beta Phi Foundation and for her leadership in times of growth, challenge, uncertainty and opportunity. We look forward to following her next steps and are excited for the next chapter for the Foundation—which continues to enable the Fraternity to realize its mission and ensure the future of our sisterhood. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, and all who have worked with her, we wish her the best.”

“It has been my absolute privilege to serve Pi Beta Phi for the last eight years alongside our volunteer leaders and dedicated Foundation staff,” said Hallee. “I have loved leading our incredible team and Foundation and am proud to have been part of the Foundation’s organizational evolution and great success in SHINE THROUGH. I recognize it is time, personally, for a new chapter. This difficult decision was made easier by knowing the strength of our organization. With a dedicated Board of Trustees and staff team, and generous, loyal donors, Pi Beta Phi Foundation will continue to help the Fraternity fulfill its mission — promoting friendship, developing women of intellect and integrity, cultivating leadership potential and enriching lives through community service.”

Hallee is a proud member of the Michigan Gamma Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Michigan State University. She currently serves the Foundation for Fraternal Excellence Board of Directors as Vice President. After college, Hallee served Pi Beta Phi as a Leadership Development Consultant before receiving her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Prior to returning to Pi Beta Phi, Hallee worked for the March of Dimes in numerous positions, including Executive Director of the Houston Division.

The Board of Trustees will assess the Foundation's needs and begin the search for her replacement immediately.

Founded in 1990, Pi Beta Phi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational tax-exempt organization.
