Pi Beta Phi Chapter at Yale University to Cease Operations
Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women announces the decision to cease chapter operations of the Connecticut Beta Chapter at Yale University, effective January 18, 2024.
Pi Beta Phi volunteers and Headquarters staff have worked closely with the Connecticut Beta Chapter and provided the highest level of support in hopes of sustaining a chapter at Yale University. “The decision to cease operations at a chapter is never taken lightly,” Grand President Lisa Gamel Scott said. “Having a thriving chapter at Yale is important to Pi Beta Phi and suspending operations gives Pi Phi the opportunity to determine our next steps forward. While the chapter’s future is unclear, Pi Phi remains committed to having a presence at Yale and continuing our three-decade Yale legacy.”
The Connecticut Beta Chapter was founded in 1989, and more than 900 women have been initiated into Pi Beta Phi through the chapter.
Founded in 1867 at Monmouth College in Illinois, Pi Beta Phi has installed 206 collegiate chapters and nearly 300 alumnae organizations worldwide. Pi Beta Phi promotes friendship, develops women of intellect and integrity, cultivates leadership potential and enriches the lives of members and their communities. The Fraternity believes in the power of reading and through its philanthropy, Read > Lead > Achieve®, promotes a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential.
