Congratulations Convention Award Winners

The Service in Sisterhood and Dorothy Weaver Morgan Awards are prestigious, convention-only awards that are a testament to Pi Phi’s core values of Philanthropic Service to Others and Lifelong Commitment. These awards were announced at Pi Beta Phi’s 75th Biennial Convention during the Wine Carnation Banquet. Join us in congratulating these esteemed members!

Service in Sisterhood “SIS” Award

The Service in Sisterhood SIS Award was established in 2009 and named after Grand President Emerita Sarah Ruth (Sis) Mullis, South Carolina Alpha. The award is given to a member who puts the needs and goals of the Fraternity first, has served the Fraternity above the local level with loyalty, intellect and effectiveness, is an advocate for the success of our collegiate chapters, a role model and mentor to chapter and Fraternity officers, lives the values of Pi Beta Phi and is a servant leader.

Kentucky Beta Karen Emberton

Karen has dedicated decades of loyal service to Pi Beta Phi. Her leadership as a Collegiate Regional Director, her work on the Foundation’s Undergraduate Scholarship Committee and her personal philanthropic support all speak to her unwavering loyalty. Karen also played a key role in creating one of Pi Phi’s most iconic traditions—the Chapter Banner Parade—leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire generations of sisters. She continues to give her time and heart to Pi Phi, most recently by helping organize volunteers for this very convention. Karen leads with strength and conviction, always choosing service and sisterhood.

Dorothy Weaver Morgan Award for Fraternity Loyalty

The Dorothy Weaver Morgan Award was established in 1969 to recognize Fraternity loyalty. Named after Nebraska Beta and past Grand President Dorothy Weaver Morgan, the award is given to an individual, chapter or club that exhibits a high level of Fraternity loyalty.

Tennessee Gamma Kathy Swinea Nevill

Kathy has embodied Fraternity loyalty through decades of service—as a Foundation officer, Chapter House Corporation leader, Alumnae Advisory Committee member, and key voice in major Foundation campaigns, including SHINE Through. Her leadership, generosity and love for Pi Phi has left a lasting mark, especially during her time as Foundation President. And if you’re ever seen “Angelica” the convention angel delivering a fundraising update, you’ve seen Kathy’s spirit in action.

All award winners will be featured in the Summer 2025 issue of The Arrow. Check out the Pi Phi website for the full list of award winners.
