WELCOME THE PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE
Kelsie Mitchell
HOW does it feel to be one in a number of more than 300,000 bold, intellectual, beautifully talented women? For me, it is humbling. As I sat in the dining hall at Convention with just one quarter of a percent of those 300,000-plus Pi Beta Phis during the commemorative 150th anniversary of our incredible sisterhood, I thought, “how could I be so lucky to have found a home with these women?
Well, the answer I came to was that I wasn’t lucky. I was brought into this organization with purpose: to be a friend, confidant, cheerleader, advocate, supporter, and much to my surprise, to lead. Without a doubt, you yourself found your way into this sisterhood form many of the same reasons, maybe more.
When we pledged our allegiance to the wine and silver blue, we also pledged to cherish the bonds that sisterhood brings us. And while those college days were glorious, guess what? Alumnae days are EVEN BETTER. Say what?? Well, here’s the thing about being an alum — Your sisters may not be with you daily, though when you make time to reconnect, its like picking up where you left off (but wine is allowed!). Sisterhood has so much to offer to us as busy women in whatever stage of life we may be.
It’s a chance to see those people who touched your life some years ago; or discover common ground with newfound sisters who just happen to live in the neighborhood next to you. Whether you wish to enjoy the rewards of active membership, help with a one-off event, host a gathering, or just come to socialize, there’s a place for you in our club. We work year-round to maximize our efforts when it comes to supporting and growing literacy in our area and we always seek sisters to further impact our efforts.
AS WE ENTER THIS NEW CLUB YEAR, REMEMBER, YOU CAN JOIN US ANYTIME!
Your Indianapolis Alumnae Club Leaders are here for you to connect, lend a hand, or even support starting up a new group for Pi Phis interested in the things you are. We are here for you and we hope this year will be the year that we strengthen our ties and grow our club with your return to sisterhood. I look forward to seeing continuing members and greeting our new members.
I invite you to FOLLOW YOUR ARROW.
