Feels Like Home

Creating a space where sisters feel welcome, supported and safe is a top priority for Pi Beta Phi. The housing experience is essential to our members—whether through traditional chapter houses, suites, lodges or campus gathering spaces. Pi Phis know these cherished places offer an environment to form lifelong friendships, grow within a built-in community and foster a true sense of belonging.

The Fraternity Housing Corporation (FHC) helps Pi Beta Phi deliver a premier housing experience for its members by supporting and managing 68 different facility types across the nation. Through its resources, FHC coordinates with national lending partners, curates vendor partnerships and builds relationships with current university housing to maintain modern, relevant facilities that meet the evolving needs of our collegiate members.

The housing experience is about much more than creating beautiful spaces, it’s also about establishing safe places for members to foster Sincere Friendships and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime place to call home. “Getting to live in close quarters with my sisters, study together, eat together and do life together is something I will always cherish,” shares past Missouri Alpha Chapter President Maddie Hilbrenner. “I have made so many memories living in our facility and truly never want to move out.”

After years of planning and fundraising—which started with the devoted local housing corporation volunteers and capital campaign committee—Missouri Alpha collegians were excited to move into their renovated chapter house with a newly built addition in August 2024. The facility now features 26,419 square feet and houses 81 live-in members. New updates include outdoor patio spaces, multiple lounges, conference rooms and private study rooms to support their educational pursuits, as well as increased accessibility in all areas of the house.

“Every inch of the house feels so inviting. The charm of history in the front to the brand-new, beautiful chapter room in the basement, every detail feels like you are at home,” shares past AAC Chair for Missouri Alpha Michelle Nutting, Illinois Alpha. “What I love most about the facility is the thought and effort put into every detail. You are transported out of college and into a stunning, welcoming home.”

FHC also works in partnership with Pi Beta Phi Foundation to enhance the housing experience to all Pi Phi collegians. Through chapter-specific programs and grants, our Foundation supports educational functions of our facilities to provide a premier live-in experience. Missouri Alpha has an established Educational Area Grant Program (EAGP) fund, which offers donors a tax-deductible option to fund significant renovation or building projects, typically tied to a capital campaign.

The Missouri Alpha EAGP was made possible through gracious donations from the capital campaign and was used to help fund project costs and promote educational areas of the new facility. “Thank you for helping to preserve Missouri Alpha’s history and helping to give our chapter a successful future,” Maddie shares with capital campaign donors. “We are so blessed to be in this space, and members for years to come will benefit from all the amazing aspects of our home.”

Missouri Alpha is just one of the successful FHC-managed facilities that continues to thrive and provide a positive living experience for collegians. To learn more about FHC and the Pi Phi housing experience, visit pibetaphi.org/housing

This project would not have been possible without the amazing work of the Missouri Alpha Chapter House Corporation & Capital Campaign Committee alumnae and volunteers who devoted years of project planning and fundraising prior to the transition to FHC. A special thank you to our vendors used for the renovation and addition – TreanorHL Architects, Little Dixie Construction, MKS Designs and CSL Management.
