Through the FDS500 program, Pi Beta Phi annually awards grants to First Book® recipient groups nominated by Pi Phi chapters and alumnae clubs. The grants are used to purchase up to $1,000 worth of new books from First Book, and the books are distributed to children in need. Like all Read > Lead > Achieve® initiatives, FDS500 grants are made possible by generous gifts to The Literacy Fund at Pi Beta Phi Foundation.

Thank you to the chapters and clubs who nominated organizations to receive a 2021-2022 FDS500 grant! If the organization you nominated is selected to receive a grant, you will be notified by September 30.

Nominations for FDS500 grants are now closed, but will reopen in September 2022. If you have questions about the FDS500 program or Pi Pi Phi's Read > Lead > Achieve® initiatives, please contact our Program and Literacy Coordinator.

We believe in the power of reading.

For more than a century, we've worked to inspire a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential, creating a more literate and productive society. Today, Pi Phis participate, donate and advocate for literacy through our Read > Lead > Achieve® reading initiatives — just as our sisters first did in 1912.
