2024 Local Impact Grant Recipients

During the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Pi Beta Phi Foundation awarded $58,985 in Local Impact Grants to more than 20 organizations across North America. Thanks to the unwavering support and generosity of our sisterhood, Pi Beta Phi Foundation has collectively awarded $896,000 in Local Impact Grants—and needs your help to reach $1 million in grant awards!

Local Impact Grants help expand the reach of the Fraternity’s literacy work while also providing a way for Pi Phis to support reading programs and access to books for children close to home. As chapters and alumnae clubs fundraise for The Literacy Fund at Pi Beta Phi Foundation, they can nominate an organization in their community to receive a Local Impact Grant from our Foundation. The program allows clubs and chapters to direct 25% of their fundraising contributions to a literacy-focused nonprofit, matched dollar-for-dollar by a grant from our Foundation.

Pi Beta Phi believes reading always has been—and always will be—a powerful step toward a life of enduring impact. Our members seek to inspire a lifelong love of reading through Read > Lead > Achieve® literacy initiatives, fundraising events and activities, making a difference for children in communities across North America.

Recipients include organizations such as Title I schools in districts with Foundations, tutoring and mentoring programs and community foundations. Grants are used to support literacy programs and purchase books for classroom and home libraries—providing reading materials for children who otherwise might not have access to quality, age-appropriate books.

seattle.pngPage Ahead is a children's litereacy program located in Washington state that works to close the literacy achievement gap experience by Washington students who live in historically disadvantaged or opresses communities and are the furthest from education opportunity.

Nominated by the Seattle, Washington Alumnae Club, Page Ahead received a Local Impact Grant in 2024 in the form of book donations.

"We would like to acknowledge Seattle Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi for their very large donation of new books to Page Ahead. The final count is 5,355 beautiful new books! These brand-new books have already started going out to our school partners across the greater Puget Sound to put in the hands of their students. Thank you so much, Pi Beta Phis, for your incredible gift of reading to local children. We are so grateful for your support!"

Thank you to the Pi Beta Phi alumnae clubs and chapters that nominated organizations to receive Local Impact Grants—and congratulations to the grant recipients! We will continue to add to this list throughout the remainder of the year.
