2024-2025 Local Impact Grant Recipients
During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Pi Beta Phi Foundation awarded $116,262 in Local Impact Grants to 26 organizations across North America. Since its inception in 2013, Pi Beta Phi Foundation has awarded more than 500 Local Impact Grants to literacy-focused nonprofits in the local communities of our chapters and alumnae clubs. And last fiscal year, we reached a significant milestone—$1 million awarded in Local Impact Grants, expanding literacy access and inspiring future readers and leaders.
As chapters and alumnae clubs fundraise for The Literacy Fund at Pi Beta Phi Foundation, they can nominate an organization in their community to receive a Local Impact Grant from our Foundation. The program allows clubs and chapters to direct 25% of their fundraising contributions to a literacy-focused nonprofit, matched dollar-for-dollar by a grant from our Foundation.
For Mississippi Beta, there was no question who they would nominate for a Local Impact Grant. Having spent countless hours volunteering with Leap Frog—a free after-school literacy program in Oxford, Mississippi—chapter members know firsthand the difference the organization makes in the lives of local children.
“Leap Frog has the special gift of creating a safe environment where everyone can be themselves and succeed. The children in the program have created lasting relationships with members of Mississippi Beta—bonds that deserve to be celebrated," shares Chapter President Kalyn Barr. In the spirit of readers becoming leaders, Leap Frog’s commitment to education aligns closely with Pi Phi’s values and literacy mission."
Thank you to the Pi Beta Phi alumnae clubs and chapters that nominated organizations to receive Local Impact Grants—and congratulations to the grant recipients! Learn more about the ways Pi Beta Phi Foundation supports Pi Phi’s commitment to literacy here.
